The Batavia Tower of the Port is an important heritage of the town. The tower was used to be the zero Kilometer before the landmark was moved to Monas. The tower was built in the era of General Governor Antonio Van Diemen (1636-1645) and become part of the city wall. There are a lot of historical fact that we can find from this tower, social as well as political history. However this tower is slanting and if it is not repaired soon, it will collapse. We will lost one more important heritage of Batavia. The slanting is due to the land subsidence and environmental damage. The provincial government should save the heritage.
